Police have issued a statement following the horrific death of a woman fatally stabbed as she waited at a Birmingham city centre bus stop.

Katie Fox was named as the victim of what police described as an ‘unprovoked’ knife attack in Smallbrook Queensway shortly before 9pm on Friday, November 7.

The 34-year-old suffered a serious neck injury and was taken to hospital but later died.

Djeison Rafael, 21, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Monday, November 10, charged with murder.

Tributes were left to Ms Fox online, with Melanie Cox saying the news was ‘absolutely devastating’ .
