A 95-year-old man stabbed his partner of 30 years to death while suffering from delirium days after returning home from hospital, an inquest has heard. Ernest Gray killed Margaret Day, 86, at their home in Broomfield Road, Herne Bay, in November 2023, before going outside, covered in blood, and telling passersby: “I’ve murdered her.”

A coroner has now said she will issue a prevention of future deaths report into the tragic case due to the manner of Mr Gray’s discharge from the QEQM Hospital in Margate just three days before.
