A conman who cashed in a fake National Lottery ticket to claim £2.5m has settled his confiscation bill - but more than £1m is still unaccounted for. ‌

Edward Putman , now 60, was jailed for nine years in 2019 after a trial heard how he was awarded the cash using a fraudulent lottery ticket in 2009. ‌

He served less than half of his sentence and was released last year. ‌

Putman has since squared a £939,000 court order imposed after the scam, which was aided by Camelot insider Giles Knibbs.

Crown Prosecution Service lawyers also successfully applied to seize an extra £240,000 from the £1.2m sale of a house he bought with his crooked cash.
