Roads have been cordoned off in the city centre of Glasgow as over 50 firefighters tackle a blaze at an electrical substation. ‌

Emergency services raced to West Nile Street when the alarm was raised at around 4.30pm on Saturday. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said an H&M store near the substation was evacuated while they dealt with the incident. ‌

Eight fire engines, a high reach appliance and a command support unit were at the scene on Saturday evening. People posting on social media described hearing explosions and lights flickering in the area just before the incident. ‌

There were no reports of any injuries .
