A Kingman man charged in the shooting of his uncle has entered a plea agreement after his first trial ended in a hung jury. The jury deliberated about three hours on September 24 before informing Mohave County Superior Court judge Derek Carlisle it was unable to reach unanimous verdicts in the case against Zachary Sowers, 26.
Deputy Mohave County attorney Amanda Claerhout said Sowers shot his uncle last December after the 62-year-old victim had asked him to move out of his residence in the 2800 block of Hearne Avenue. The uncle was treated at Kingman Regional Medical Center and a Las Vegas trauma center, while Sowers was arrested following a short foot pursuit following the shooting.
