A man accused of murdering a 22-year-old in Hartlepool has appeared in court. Callum Howe is charged with killing Mohammed Shaan Ali Rasul, who was also known as Shaan.

The body of “beloved brother” Shaan was found inside a house in Allerton Close in the Dyke House area of Hartlepool on Sunday, November 23. Cleveland Police and paramedics attended the street just before 10.45am.

Howe, 22, of Blakelock Gardens, in Hartlepool, appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, charged with murder.

The case was sent to the crown court and Howe will make his first appearance at Teesside Crown Court on Thursday, November 27. A 23-year-old man who was also arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed with conditions while enquires continue.
