BUCKEYE, AZ (AZFamily) — Police say a convicted sex offender has been arrested for allegedly following a girl to a bus stop near downtown Buckeye.

Adrian Villareal is back in jail in connection with the incident that happened late last week.

On Friday, Nov. 21, a woman called 911 to report that a man had harassed her 12-year-old daughter as she walked to the school bus stop near Baseline and Pima roads . When officers arrived, they spoke to employees at a nearby daycare, who said the man was walking and trying to talk to the girl. They brought her to the daycare, where she waited safely for her bus.

Police say they were able to identify the suspect as Villareal, who already had an active warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.
