MURRYSVILLE, Pa. —

A strip mall on Route 22 in Westmoreland County was evacuated after the smell of gas was reported Tuesday, an official at the scene told Pittsburgh's Action News 4.

Six people were taken to the hospital as a precaution after feeling ill at Walnut Hollow on William Penn Highway in Murrysville.

The smell of gas was reported in the grill area at a Chipotle restaurant, an official on scene told Pittsburgh's Action News 4 reporter Marcie Cipriani.

Emergency dispatchers said the call came in to 911 just after 1:50 p.m. Peoples Gas responded to the shopping plaza, along with several ambulances and fire trucks.

Businesses were reopening shortly before 4 p.m.
