A depraved pervert who left his victim ‘broken' as a result of his repeated rapes and sexual assaults has been locked up for more than 20 years.

Stuart Cox’s offending became progressively worse as he resorted to using pharmaceutical stimulants to continue his sexual abuse over several years.

The 63-year-old remained impassive as the devasting impact of his depravity was laid bare through the victim’s impact statement at Teesside Crown Court.

The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, wrote: “Since the time of the crimes, I have been isolated keeping myself to myself. I didn’t want to talk or open up because it has been a really long battle for justice.

“I would often wonder how much longer before I would get my peace and justice.”
