SUMMERTON, S.C. — Authorities say one person has been airlifted to a local hospital after a shooting at a Clarendon County travel center.
Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Baxley said the incident happened around 8 a.m. at the Love's Travel Stop in Summerton. Baxley said they found one person at the scene, a 23-year-old Summerton man, with gunshot wounds to the shoulder and thigh. That person has since been taken by helicopter to a hospital in Richland County.
The sheriff said the victim was conscious and alert at the time they were taken from the scene and described him as stable in a later update; however, the man's exact condition wasn't available.
The incident reportedly happened outside near the fuel pumps.
