VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A late-night fire that broke out Saturday on Loretta Lane was caused by ashes placed in a garbage can, according to the Virginia Beach Fire Department.
Fire officials said units were dispatched at 11:17 p.m. to a reported residential structure fire in the 1100 block of Loretta Lane. Crews arrived three minutes later and found heavy smoke coming from the front of an attached garage at a two-story home.
Firefighters were attacking the fire by 11:23 p.m., and the blaze was marked under control at the same time. The fire was declared out at 12:12 a.m. on Sunday.
There were no injuries to civilians, firefighters, or pets, and no residents were displaced, the department said.
