Because running the country wasn’t keeping them busy enough, the White House now posts a weekly naughty list for journalists.
The White House has launched a new page on its website called "media offenders," where they plan to list news sites, reporters, and stories they claim to be "fake news" that misled the public.
Specifically, the website is tracking the Washington Post, CBS News, CNN, and MSNBC, with an archive of articles and videos dating back months.
On Friday, the website targeted its "Media Offender of the Week," which the White House alleges "the media misrepresented President Trump’s call for Members of Congress to be held accountable for inciting sedition by saying that he called for their 'execution.'"
It highlights a video posted by Democrats encouraging military members to refuse "illegal orders," which Trump later posted on Truth Social and called "seditious behavior, punishable by death."
That post landed the outlets that shared the video, and the lawmakers involved in the White House's "Hall of Shame."
"The Democrats and Fake News Media subversively implied that President Trump had issued illegal orders to service members," officials wrote. "Every order President Trump has issued has been lawful."
"It is dangerous for sitting Members of Congress to incite insubordination in the United States’ military, and President Trump called for them to be held accountable."
On the website, each story is explained and categorized under labels such as "lie," "omission of context," or "left-wing lunacy."
The White House described the site as "a record of the media’s false and misleading stories flagged by The White House." It also features a leaderboard of news sites that the administration claims misreported stories.
One can also sort by "publication," "reporter," and "category" while looking for the purported "fake news."
As of Sunday, Nov. 30, the Washington Post was the biggest "offender," according to the White House, followed by MSNBC, CBS News, CNN, and The New York Times.
They also highlighted alleged "repeat offenders."
"For those of you still arguing with family over the holidays, we rolled (this) out today for you," a White House official said. "But most importantly to hold the media accountable. Misleading? Biased? Prepare to be EXPOSED."
