A man who shot at police while barricaded in a home in Stamford was found dead after a hours long standoff on Tuesday.
Officers responded to a residence on Oaklawn Avenue on Tuesday, which escalated into an incident involving a barricaded man, according to Chief Timothy Shaw of the Stamford Police Department .
As officers approached the residence, which is across the street from Fairfield Memorial Park, Shaw said their police vehicles came under gunfire.
During the course of the standoff, the man continued to exchange gunfire with officers, according to Shaw. Video posted on social media showed the exchange.
Shaw said multiple agencies responded with additional resources to assist Stamford police.
