HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) - Three days have passed since a double-fatal fire in Hilo at an old poi factory.
The sister of one of the victims is still coming to terms with the tragic loss.
“She was a loving person. And she was kind. She helped out everybody,” Olinda De Rego said about her sister, 72-year-old Antoinette Amii.
“She had a heart of gold. That lady would take off her shirt to help someone. She is so kind, so caring,” De Rego said.
Amii was a mother of four and had multiple grandchildren. De Rego said even beyond family, she was loved by those around her.
“In her apartment building, all the tenants respected her. They called her Aunty. And I’m gonna really miss her. I really am,” De Rego said.
Amii was industrious all her life, according to her family. She found jobs as a waitre
