JACKSON -- One by one through the fourth quarter and overtime of Tuesday’s boys basketball opener between Dearborn Advanced Tech Academy and Jackson, Jackson players began coming over to the bench, cramping up.
But the Viking bench stepped in and came up with key baskets, such as Kylin Davis, who did not score in regulation, but came up with a key layup to put the Vikings ahead with a minute left in overtime, then added a pair of free throws, as Jackson came away with a 58-53 overtime win.
“I see from my bench all these guys that work hard at practice,” Jackson’s Tre Pierce said. “They compete just as the starters. They’re at the level of our starters.”
Davis scored to put Jackson back on top after a basket from Latrell Mason tied the score moments earlier. Mason struck again to make it
