The man who killed police constable Sharon Beshenivsky passed away behind bars from lung cancer , less than 12 months following his conviction, an inquest has been told. Piran Ditta Khan orchestrated an armed raid on a Bradford travel agency which resulted in PC Beshenivsky being fatally shot in 2005.

He received a life sentence in May 2024 with a minimum 40-year tariff following nearly a decade and a half as a fugitive, marking him as the last gang member to face justice. Khan passed away on February 21 at Wakefield Prison in West Yorkshire, at the age of 76.
