A conman spent several years masquerading as a nurse in the North East before absconding abroad once his real identity came to light. Ashton Guramatunhu pocketed almost £150,000 in wages whilst adopting the persona of a genuine healthcare worker who remained oblivious to his deception.

Though he had previously held the necessary qualifications for such a job, he was prohibited from practising due to his criminal history. This prompted him to take extreme action to secure work within the field, ultimately landing him behind bars.
