ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Maryland Gov. Wes Moore on Wednesday announced that his proposed 2027 budget includes $10 million dedicated to the Protecting Against Hate Crimes Grant Program.

According to the governor’s office, the program provides support for “non-profit organizations and faith-based institutions for security enhancements to protect their facilities and members against hate-motivated violence.”

The grant helps such organizations cover things like security personnel, surveillance cameras, alarm systems, structural enhancements, and anti-hate public awareness campaigns.

Moore described public safety as his “number one priority as governor.”
