A 49-year-old man arrested in connection with an alleged hit-and-run in Glasgow that left a young woman dead has been released pending further enquiries.

The crash occurred at around 8.45pm on Tuesday, December 2, at a crossing island near the entrances to Burger King and Starbucks in the Glasgow Harbour area.

The victim, a 26-year-old woman, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Her family has been informed.

Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of an alleged “hit-and-run” incident. The vehicle involved was travelling west along Castlebank Street and had left the scene before police arrived.

Officers later traced the car and arrested a 49-year-old man in connection with the incident.
