Relief supplies intended for victims of Hurricane Melissa were stolen from a storage facility in Mississauga on Wednesday, Peel police say.
Police were called around 8 a.m. to a storage facility at 3805 Nashua Dr. following reports of an overnight theft of a trailer.
The complainant told police the shipping container was destined for Jamaica with items meant to provide aid for those affected by the hurricane.
Officers have not yet reviewed CCTV footage, saying the property manager has been “unco-operative.”
The theft comes as Jamaica continues to recover from the hurricane which made landfall on Oct. 28. The storm killed at least 45 people and displaced roughly 30,000 households as of Nov. 11.
