The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory at 3:54 p.m. on Sunday in effect until 10 p.m. for Oswego, Jefferson and Lewis counties.

The weather service says to prepare for, "Additional snow accumulations 2 to 4 inches, with the greatest accumulations on the western slopes of the Tug Hill."

"Travel will be difficult with snow covered roads and poor visibility," comments the weather service. "Periods of snow will result in snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Slow down and use caution while driving. During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions just a few miles away. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions."
