NATIONWIDE — A FOOD RECALL WAS ISSUED ON FRIDAY, DEC. 5, FOR PACKAGES OF MIXED NUTS under the Wegmans brand because of possible salmonella contamination. Mellace Family Brands California, Inc. of Warren, OH, produced the nuts and recalled the Wegmans Deluxe Mixed Nuts Unsalted packaged in a plastic tub. They have also recalled the same product in the plastic bag. These nuts were sold in 10 states in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic, including New York.

The issue was discovered after a supplier’s routing testing traced the salmonella to one lot of raw pistachios. A recall was initiated after determining these pistachios had been further used in the production of the Deluxe Mixed Nuts products.
