Syracuse, N.Y. — Redshirt-freshman defensive back Ibn McDaniels is entering the transfer portal, he announced Monday.

McDaniels played 128 snaps for Syracuse this season, primarily as a nickel cornerback and special teamer. He finished the season with just two tackles in 11 games played.

McDaniels played in just four games as a true freshman, finishing with one tackle for loss and one pass breakup.

The Elizabeth (New Jersey) product was a three-star recruit coming out of high school. He was an All-State selection in New Jersey and played some wide receiver.

McDaniels was relegated to a reserve role for Syracuse this season. The Orange used sophomore Davien Kerr as its primary nickel cornerback and had a consistent safeties rotation consisting of seniors Devin Grant, Duce Chestnut and B
