TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The summer heat is turning up as high school bands and football teams hit the field to prepare for the upcoming season.
Dr. Jayesh Patel joined East Texas Now on Tuesday to talk about common injuries that can occur after a long layoff.
“A lot of it is really from deconditioning. They kind of spent the summer sitting around and not necessarily working out,” Patel said. “So, you have to listen to your body and make sure you’re slowly ramping up to full season time, because coaches are expecting you to be ready to go and sometimes you didn’t do the things in June and July that maybe you should have.”
With football, Patel says concussions are the most common injury he encounters.
