CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — It is a really big week for stargazers. There will be two meteor showers peaking simultaneously.
The Alpha Capricornids and the Southern Delta Aquariids will peak late Tuesday night into the early hours of Wednesday.
The Alpha Capricornids will be visible at 1 am EST. They are expected to appear at a rate of 3 to 5 meteors per hour. These will be very bright and produce what is called fireballs.
The Southern Delta Aquariids will peak at 3 am EST. These will appear at a higher rate, or 10 to 15 meteors per hour. They will be visible in the night sky, but they will not be as bright as the Alpha Capricornids. The two will kind of be dueling in the sky.
To view, you want to be away from light pollution and in an area as dark as possible. Look halfway up
