SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) - A man was arrested in connection with an arson investigation in southeast Missouri.

Justin Miller, 32, of Sikeston, was arrested on felony first-degree arson. His bond was set at $100,000 cash only.

According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, they responded to a disturbance around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30 in the 100 block of Autumn Drive.

When they arrived, they immediately smelled something burning and believed it was coming from the house.

After not receiving a response at the front door, officers checked around the home and saw a man in the backyard with a smoldering mattress.

According to Sikeston DPS, they later found a smoke-filled room on the upper level of the home and an active fire on the kitchen counter.
