We are getting to the point in hurricane season where we start to see more activity. It’s been quiet so far, but remember that the peak of hurricane season isn’t until September 10th, and the season goes all the way through November.
So far this season, we have had four named storms: Andrea, Barry, Chantal, and Dexter. None of these impacted the CSRA. Dexter is now a post-tropical cyclone in the open Atlantic.
The updated NOAA forecast now has a 50% chance this will be an above normal season (compared to 60% that it was before). It also has one less named storm, hurricane, and major hurricane then it did before. Also note that the updated Colorado State Forecast is near to above average, overall in agreement with NOAA. Remember, it only takes ONE storm to make it a “bad season.”
