LINCOLN, Neb. —

Nebraska's new paid sick leave laws will take effect Oct. 1, so the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce hosted a webinar on Thursday to explain what that rollout will look like.

The 2024 election saw a fight for paid sick leave at Nebraska's ballot box, and in January, that fight continued onto the floor of the Unicameral, as some lawmakers worked to pare down the initiative passed by 75% of voters.

"This is really about making sure that all folks in Nebraska are able to take this time to care for themselves and their families. And unfortunately, that is what the legislature cut

However, a pair of labor law experts who spoke at the Chamber webinar said the original initiative lacked clarity.
