As severe storms rolled through the Rochester area last Monday night, KTTC chief meteorologist Nick Jansen took less than 10 seconds to send a text during wall-to-wall weather coverage.

“Sorry, I just had to text my wife. The baby was sleeping well tonight, so that’s going to be over with,” Jansen told viewers before continuing to track the storms.

After the rain stopped and the winds died down, Jansen received a surprising email and wrote about it on his Facebook page.

“After nearly 3 hours of storm coverage Monday night, I wanted to share a quick thought. I received an email telling me how unprofessional I was during my coverage.
