To close out the work week, we've had another very hot day. We reached 99° for the first time at the airport at 3:45 pm! Gusts up to 40 mph remain possible for the rest of the daytime, as a potent trough passes towards the northwest. Red Flag Warnings are active for much of the Western Slope today, as well as Saturday. Gusts will be down tomorrow, but still within the 25-30 mph range. We will cool down somewhat to a high of 96°. Sunday will be an average early August day in the mid-90s.
Next week's start around below average temperatures won't last forever thought. I have us back in the upper 90s on Wednesday. While there will be some overnight cloud cover periodically, it will be sunny to mostly clear for the next week. Sadly, no signs of rainfall coming in my 7-Day Forecast.
