Visitors to the Walkersville Southern Railroad might notice some changes around the railroad's home on Pennsylvania Avenue, after the official opening of a $1 million project to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility.

The work included a new pedestrian crosswalk, improvements to sidewalk accessibility, a new rail-crossing surface and upgraded rail-crossing signals.
