PHOENIX — A preliminary air quality report for a Valley elementary school found that the indoor air quality level at the time of the test was severe, and the "effect on occupants" is probable.
The Indoor Air Quality Commercial survey conducted at Kyrene de la Sierra Elementary School by Dominion Environmental Consultants on Aug. 5 showed that the total volatile organic compounds level, which is a general indicator of the internal air quality of a space, was 14,000 ng/L.
No government or organization has specified a TVOC limit for indoor air, the report states; however, the U.S. Green Building Council has set 500 ng/L as the recommended TVOC limit.
