MACON, Ga. — Macon-Bibb County homeowners could soon see another reduction in their property tax bills, as Mayor Lester Miller is recommending a fifth consecutive cut to the county’s millage rate.
If approved by the county commissioners, the new rate will be set at 9.575 mills, a decrease of 0.325 from last year and a total reduction of 10.756 mills since Miller took office in 2021.
Despite the tax cuts, Macon-Bibb County’s budget has grown significantly in recent years.
County leaders approved $219.8 million budget for fiscal year 2026 on June 17th, an $8 million increase from last year.
The county allocated $4.5 million to its beautification and recreation departments, and $8.5 million to strengthen cybersecurity within its IT department.
