SEDONA, AZ (AZFamily) — The Woods Fire, a wildfire that started on Wednesday, is causing a community southeast of Sedona to prepare to evacuate.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said those living in the Village of Oak Creek, east of state Route 179, including areas of Jacks Canyon Road and Pine Valley (YCU-1400, 1403, 1397, 1391, 1388, 1394, 1385) to get their things ready because they may have to leave their homes. The Woods Fire is burning about 2 miles east of the Village of Oak Creek atop Horse Mesa, which is 6 miles southeast of Sedona, in the Coconino National Forest.

The flames have scorched 25 acres so far. It was first spotted just before 12:30 p.m. and the cause is under investigation.
