BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - After riders shared their frustrations over the timeliness and reliability of transportation from the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA), we’re hearing from the system as they work to address those concerns.
BJCTA Charlotte Shaw said they are one of the few agencies in the industry right now growing rapidly, and even still, they’re continuing to implement changes to better serve their passengers.
“Our pre-COVID numbers were three million,” Shaw shared. “We’re at 1.67 now and steadily growing. Micro-transit is growing at 9% a month. BRT has grown over 56% in the last several months.”
Shaw believes the numbers speak for themselves.
