BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA) is expected to launch a new app in the next few months.

Their CEO says it will streamline travel in and around the city.

WBRC first shared about the app on Monday, Aug. 11.

During the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee meeting, Birmingham City Council President Darrell O’Quinn asked the MAX Transit chief financial officer where they were in the planning stages since this has been in the works for years now.

His response: the announcement of an expected launch at the end of November 2025.

BJCTA Executive Director and CEO Charlotte Shaw described the app as modern and innovative.

When asked about the timeline, Shaw said it typically takes two to three years to plan, implement and execute
