ATLANTA — During a Thursday meeting, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA ) named a new interim CEO and general manager amid its search for a permanent leader.

The transit company's chief legal counsel, Jonathan Hunt, was named as the interim leader. His position starts immediately.

"I want to thank the board for their trust… I’m accepting this role with a humble heart, knowing everything that we need to do to move forward… with Rhonda’s partnership… I know we’re gonna build an even better MARTA going forward," Hunt said at Thursday's meeting.

Hunt worked in the legal department for almost 12 years. He earned the chief legal counsel title last year. Before joining MARTA, Hunt served as the assistant city attorney for the City of Atlanta. Credit: MARTA
