CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- This week, several people accused in a violent mass shooting at a crowded pool party in Catawba County are set to face a judge.

The shooting happened on June 1, 202, when authorities said multiple gunmen opened fire at the event, which had more than 100 people in attendance. Police believe the attack was connected to gang activity and that it was carefully planned in advance using social media.

The suspects, Nathaniel Killian, Ke’Andre O’Neal Mack, Toland Huff Jr., Izaiah Kane, and Charles Rodell Kincaid III, are each facing a long list of charges, including 63 counts of attempted murder. That number reflects how many people were believed to be directly in harm’s way during the shooting.
