CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Smell natural gas in Clarksburg on Thursday? The city says there's no need for concern.

Hope Gas is scheduled to do natural gas line bleeding on Thursday, Aug. 21. The maintenance will involve the controlled bleeding of natural gas lines.

People and residents in the north lane of Main Street from 5th Street in front of the Frontier building to Monticello Avenue may notice a strong odor of natural gas throughout the day, but it is normal and not a cause for concern, according to the City of Clarksburg.

"All work is being carried out by qualified professionals in accordance with strict safety protocols. There is no emergency, and there is no risk to residents or property," the city said on social media.
