BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A man is facing a charge as part of an investigation into a shooting that left one person injured in Baton Rouge.

Jail records show Hitesh Mistry Jr., 23, of Baton Rouge, was arrested by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office for attempted second-degree murder on Tuesday, Aug. 19.

The shooting reportedly happened at an apartment on Jade Avenue on Sunday, June 24, around 2:15 a.m.

According to arrest records, Mistry arrived unannounced at the apartment and got into a fight with the victim before shooting the victim and leaving in a vehicle.

Officials said the victim was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Mistry was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
