Ontario’s police watchdog has ended an investigation into the arrest of a 38-year-old man in Woodstock earlier this year after the man failed to provide a statement.

On the evening of April 25, Woodstock police arrested the man near Dundas and Peel streets. Special Investigations Unit (SIU) officials said a struggle reportedly ensued, during which the man was taken to the ground, physically restrained, handcuffed and taken to the police station.

While in police custody, the man complained of rib pain so was taken to hospital, where he was reportedly diagnosed with a rib fracture, SIU officials added.
