NEW MARKET, Tenn. (WATE) — New Market Firefighters and Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies responded to an unusual call Saturday morning after a calf fell into a sink hole.

New Market Fire Chief Sammy Solomon shared that the firefighters and deputies were dispatched to an area along Friends Station Road in New Market to rescue the calf around 7:39 a.m.

The sinkhole the calf was trapped in was approximately 8-feet-wide and 8-feet-deep. Photos from the scene show firefighters and deputies working around the sinkhole and using a rope to rescue the calf. • (New Market Fire Department) • (New Market Fire Department) • (New Market Fire Department)

The firefighters and deputies rescued the calf alive. Solomon said neither the calf or personnel were injured.
