A record temperature of 102 was recorded Friday at the Portland International Airport, and we are expected to tie the record of 101 degrees today.
An extreme heat warning from the National Weather Service that extends from the Portland area all the way south to Eugene remains in effect until 11 p.m. Tuesday, with Saturday and Sunday expected to be the hottest days.
The weather service has also issued an air quality advisory for ozone from 10 a.m. Saturday until 8 p.m. Monday, saying the air quality will reach unhealthy levels. "Pollutants can cause burning eyes, runny nose, aggravate heart and lung diseases, and aggravate other serious health problems. Limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors. Please follow medical advice if you have a heart or lung condition," the advisory say
