BEL-RIDGE — The attorney for the family of a man shot by St. Ann police contends newly released surveillance footage shows the man could not have drawn his weapon.

Days after 37-year-old Troy Hamilton was shot on the porch of his Bel-Ridge home following a police chase early Wednesday morning, attorney Jermaine Wooten released footage recorded from a nearby home's outdoor camera.

The footage is grainy, shaky and has no sound, making details of the shooting unclear.

But Wooten contends it shows the moments leading up to Hamilton's death. Wooten said it appears Hamilton is just trying to get into his home.

The North County Police Cooperative, which is investigating the shooting, has not yet released police footage of the event and has asked the public not to draw premature conclusions.
