CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- A hiker in Charles County was flown to the hospital after they fell 25 feet from a tree at a park over the weekend.
It all happened on the evening of Aug. 23, when the Maryland State Police (MSP) Aviation Command was dispatched to a wooded, marshy area in Port Tobacco to rescue a park visitor. According to officials, the visitor had fallen 25 feet from a tree and landed in a steep embankment.
Several first responders, including members of the Charles County Fire and Rescue, La Plata Volunteer Fire Department, and paramedics, had gone into the embankment and began helping the victim.
MSP's aviation command maneuvered into position about 115 feet above the embankment and the patient. They then lowered a rescue device and a technician to the patient and
