Police have today announced they are re-investigating the death of a 48-year-old man who died after he was believed to have been struck by a vehicle in South Ayrshire in 2012. ‌

The body of Ian Brown, from Dailly, was discovered by a taxi driver on the B734 Girvan to Dailly Road around 3am on Saturday, 28 July 2012. ‌

He had left a works day out with colleagues in Girvan around 00.20am to walk home – a distance of around seven miles. ‌

There are possible sightings of him walking home, with the last being just after 1am. However, his movements between 1am and 3am remain unaccounted for.

His death was investigated as a hit and run incident at the time and since July 2012, officers have pursued several lines of inquiry.
