LA GRANGE, N.C. (WITN) - A student is sharing what they witnessed after a teacher at a Lenoir County middle school was accused of being drunk in class on the second day of school.

Alena Chabot, of Clinton, was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct on school property and misdemeanor intoxicated and disruptive for grabbing, and pushing two students.

The school system says Chabot was hired as a math teacher at E.B. Frink Middle School on August 17th, and resigned nine days later on the day of the incident, August 26.

One student in her class says her behavior was out of the norm compared to the day before.

“At the start of the period, it seemed like it would be a pretty normal day but I’d say about mid-way through I’d started to notice that after the bathroom break she was slurring
