A $11 billion data center campus, the largest private sector investment in state history, is now under construction outside New Carlisle just across from the LaPorte County line.

And now a developer is seeking to build a $12 billion data center nearby that would eclipse the ongoing Amazon Web Services project as the largest in Indiana history.

But this time, the plan has drawn public opposition and received an unfavorable recommendation from the St. Joseph County Plan Commission this week.
