PC Duncan Bouette sent a series of messages outlining the abuse before he wrote online about extreme, violent sexual practices.
He was dismissed from the force earlier this week despite being arrested a month ago.
He was sentenced yesterday (November 6) after being charged with two counts under the Obscene Publications Act.
He will serve an 18-month suspended prison alongside 200 hours of community work.
He was also given a three-year criminal behaviour order that bans him from unsupervised contact with children and relates to the use of digital devices.
The court heard how PC Bouette sent a series of messages about the sexual abuse of children on November 18, 2024.
