NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department were involved in a deadly shooting at a downtown bus station early Friday morning.

The call for assistance went out around 6 a.m., and officers responded to the Greyhound station on Rep. John Lewis Way to investigate.

While at the scene, the officers engaged a man who was suicidal, and witnesses claimed had a gun.

Nashville PD reported that the man reached into his backpack, prompting two officers to open fire, hitting the man.

He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation investigates all officer-involved shootings in the state.
